Ribbon Cuttings

Congratulations! If you are reading this, you are likely considering a celebration for your business. We are excited for your success and appreciate the opportunity to help you mark this momentous occasion.

What is a ribbon cutting?
A service provided exclusively to chamber members, a ribbon cutting is a ceremonial event marking the opening of a brand new business, a groundbreaking, a newly renovated space, a relocation, or a milestone anniversary. It’s also a great opportunity to network with other business owners and members of the community. As the representative of the member business, you can take this opportunity to address those gathered and say a few words to show appreciation to those who’ve supported you in your efforts (partners, community members, family, etc.) It’s also a great time to share details about your business with those attending.
How the chamber will serve you and your business for your special celebration
The Chamber will gladly assist you with the following:
• Send out an email blast to chamber members announcing your ribbon cutting. • Invite our Chamber Ambassadors • List your ribbon cutting on the chamber’s online event calendar • Bring the ceremonial scissors and chamber branded ribbon • Have a member of the chamber’s team provide congratulatory remarks • Take pictures at the event and publish a photo in our newsletter
Host Business Responsibilities
You are the host of your ribbon cutting. Make it yours!
• Designate a contact person to coordinate with the chamber staff person • Send your logo to the chamber staff person • Send out invitations to your contacts and consider inviting local elected officials • Designate a speaker(s) to make comments at your ceremony • Food and beverage are not required but add a nice touch to your event • Consider giving out a few door prizes or giving a goodie bag to attendees as they leave with a few treats and your business cards inside • Keep the chamber staff up to date on event details, changes or additions We strongly encourage you to conduct your own public relations campaign to increase attendance and awareness for your ribbon cutting. There isn't just one style of a ribbon cutting ceremony. Depending on what style you're looking to host, most ribbon cutting events are 15 minutes to an hour in time. Keep in mind, however, that ribbon cuttings are typically short and sweet, but can be scheduled along with grand opening celebrations if you choose.
