DESCRIPTION:Mule Day 2013 \n\n	Saturday\, May 4th \n\n	10am-3pm\n\n	 \nAs an annual tradition\, Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm will celebrate its agricultural heritage by hosting Mule Day at the Farm.\n\n \n\nVisitors can see displays of traditional farm equipment and animals as well as demonstrations of period crafts by local artisans.  Blue Grass Music throughout the day and whole hog BBQ complete a day of old-fashioned fun for the entire family.\n\n \n\nFarm buildings\, including a working gristmill and blacksmith shop\, cotton gin\, commissary\, and teacher's house will all be open for touring. These buildings date back to the early 1900s.  \n\n \n\nActivities to enjoy will be split oak basket making\, soap making\, garden herbs and plants\, and yard art made from old metal pieces.  All items will be available for purchase.\n\n \n\nChildren's games will go on throughout the day.\n\n \n\nSeminar by Gene England\n\n \n\nThroughout the morning\, Gene England will be conducting a seminar on mowing\, raking\, hauling and building a hay stack using mules and horses.  A highlight of the day will be watching these horse drawn mowers\, rakes and wagons create the hay stack.  Gene will be available to answer any questions you might have.\n\n \n\nLunch served from 11am-1pm \n\nA whole hog BBQ with all the fixings will be served from 11am-1pm.  Fried pies will also be available for sale as well as products produced on the farm.  These include cornmeal and grits.  \n\nEnjoy Blue Grass Music throughout the day.
